Preparing for the Hi-Lingua Language Competition requires regular practice and a good understanding of the language. Students are encouraged to use different study materials according to their grade group and language level.

The resources below can help participants become familiar with the competition format and improve the language skills required for the exams.

Official Competition Materials
Where available, students can review previous Hi-Lingua question papers and official preparation materials. These can help students understand the general exam format, question types, subject areas,and level of difficulty.

Grammar
A good knowledge of grammar is important for successful performance in the competition. Students should review grammar topics appropriate to their level, including sentence structure, verb forms, tenses, parts of speech, word order and common grammatical patterns.

Vocabulary
Students should regularly expand their vocabulary and review words related to common everyday and academic topics. Vocabulary books, flashcards, vocabulary notebooks and language-learning applications can be useful for this purpose.

Reading

Speaking practice is particularly important for students preparing for the Final Round Speaking Exam.
