About Hi-Lingua

The languages featured on the Hi-Lingua platform — English, Spanish, French and German — are spoken by more than one billion people worldwide. Today, students around the world have access to a wide range of language-learning resources, many of which are available free of charge or at a low cost.

General Conditions

1. The official language of the organization is English. The registration panel, instructions, announcements and exam platform information on the website are all provided in English.
2. The Hi-Lingua Language Competition is only open to students who are learning foreign languages. Students whose native language is English, French, Spanish or German may not take the exam in their native language. (For example: If your native language is English, you may only take the exam in French, German or Spanish.) 

Exam Conditions

1. The Semi-Final Round Exams (Written Multiple-Choice Exams) will be held online on two separate dates. Students may take the exam on either one date or on both dates. Each exam attempt requires a separate payment.
2. The questions will be different for each exam date, but both exams will have the same level of difficulty. 

Evaluation & Results

1. Each language exam in the Semi-Final Round consists of 30 multiple-choice questions.
2. The first 20 questions are worth 3 points each, while the final 10 questions are worth 4 points each. The maximum possible score is 100 points.
3. Each incorrect answer will result in a 1-point deduction from the total score.
