Evaluation & Results

A. Evaluation of the ​Semi-Final Round 

  1. Starting Level: All participants, regardless of grade, age or language proficiency, begin at the Beginners level. Students who correctly answer at least 10 out of the 20 questions will qualify to proceed to the next level.
  2. Scoring: Each question is worth 5 points. A student who answers all 80 questions correctly will achieve a total score of 400 points ( 5 points x 80 questions =  400  points).
  3. Incorrect Answers: Each incorrect answer deducts 5 points from the total score.
  4. Results by Grade Group: Results are announced separately for 3 grade groups in each language category:
    Group 1: Grades 1, 2, 3, 4
    Group 2: Grades 5, 6, 7, 8
    Group 3: Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
  5. Medals and Certificates for Top Participants: The top 3 participants in each grade group and language category of the Semi-Final Round will receive medals and certificates by mail.
  6. Digital Medal Certificates: Remaining participants will receive digital medal certificates based on their overall score, as follows:
    Top 15% → Digital Gold Medal Certificate
    Next 15-35% → Digital Silver Medal Certificate
    Next 35-60% → Digital Bronze Medal Certificate
    Next 60-80% → Digital Honorable Medal Certificate
    Next 80-100% → Digital Participation Certificate
  7. Final Round Qualification: The top 10 students in each grade group and language category will qualify for the Final Round, totaling 30 students per language category.

B. Evaluation of the Final Round

  1. Total Score Calculation: The Final Round has a maximum possible score of 200 points, calculated as follows:
    > 50% of the Semi-Final Round score
    > Interview score, worth up to 200 points
    (50% of Semi-Final Score + Interview Score, max. 200 points =  max. 400 points)
  2. Interview Scoring Criteria: The interview is scored based on fluency, pronunciation and the use of a range of grammatical structures.
  3. Medals and Certificates for Top Participants: The top 3 participants in each grade group and language category will receive hard copy medals and certificates by mail.
  4. Hi-Lingua Grand Final Discount Awards: The top 3 students in each grade group and language category (36 students in total) will receive the following discounts:
    - 1st Place → 75% discount
    - 2nd Place → 50% discount
    - 3rd Place → 25% discount
